Heather Holland is a 2010 graduate of Western Michigan University, where she earned bachelor's degrees in journalism and merchandising. She spent a summer in New York City interning for fashion brand Andrew Marc, where she worked with Creative Director Chris Gbur on the fall 2009 advertising campaign. Holland currently works for Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord, Michigan.
Along with her duties at the hospital, Holland volunteers at the Otsego County Food Pantry, and leads the junior and senior high youth group at the First United Methodist Church of Gaylord. She has increased attendance by over 400 percent in less than one year.
In her time at WMU, Holland served on the public relations committee for M.O.D.A., a student fashion organization. There she wrote and edited press releases, created press kits, managed Facebook and Twitter accounts, and contacted local media outlets. She also organized and managed multiple fundraisers and fashion shows to benefit local charities, such as Loaves and Fishes, Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Southwest Michigan, and the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
Holland was also deeply involved in student publications on Western’s campus. She served as fashion columnist and food writer for the Western Herald, and interned for the WMU branch of HerCampus.com.
In her spare time, she enjoys photography, exploring Michigan, and keeping up with her three-year-old Boston Terrier.
